Volunteer Opportunities

The Sanderson Farms volunteer committees are listed below. Specific openings are not guaranteed. Several committees schedule mandatory training sessions prior to the tournament week in order to familiarize volunteers with their specific duties.

This committee will assist with PGA TOUR Caddie Registration and check-in, daily bib distribution and collection, and maintenance of the caddie area.

Committee Days: Monday, October 2 – Sunday, October 8

Manage the operation of the practice range and other practice areas. Duties include distributing range balls by brand, placing the appropriate nameplate to identify each player, pick-up/clean golf balls.

Allocates golf carts to PGA TOUR staff, Committee Chairs, Vice Chairs and Operations staff. Maintains a sign in/sign out sheet. Assigns cart signage to individual carts. Ensures cart keys are returned, carts are charged and cleaned daily.

Assist shuttling volunteers and spectators to and from the course. *Must be 18 years or older.

Committee Days: Thursday, October 5 – Sunday, October 8

Take part behind-the-scenes and support the Golf Channel broadcast. Volunteers may be stationed at a particular hole as a spotter or microphone operator while others may walk with a particular group to provide real time updates. Volunteers for this committee need a basic understanding of golf, must be in good physical condition, and be able to walk the course.

Committee Days: Thursday, October 5 – Sunday, October 8

Responsible for maintaining crowd control, and golf etiquette among spectators. Duties also include guiding players and caddies from one hole to the next, spot balls, monitoring cart movement on cart paths, and assisting with the evacuation of players during inclement weather delays or whenever deemed necessary.

Committee Days: Wednesday, October 4 – Sunday, October 8

Record and transmit shot locations of professionals to the SHOTLink system, while stationed greenside or at fairway landing zones. Transmission achieved via the use of handheld palm pilots and stationary tripod cameras. Laser/Tablet Operators on fairway duty will have preferred seating at key locations.

*Please note: All will have mandatory online training as well as in-class training on handheld devices and lasers. Training date(s) TBD. Must be 18+ to volunteer.

*SHOTLink volunteers are required to work a minimum of two (2) shifts.

Physical Activity Required. Volunteers must be able to perform heavy lifting. Transport drinks, ice, and snacks to all holes on the course, scoring tents, practice range, media center, volunteer center, etc. *Please note: must be at least 18 years old to operate a golf cart.

Assist with Pro-Am check in, and overall Pro-Am operations.

Committee Days: Monday, October 2 – Wednesday, October 4

Greet guests, check credentials, and provide wristbands to clients at entrances to all corporate hospitality locations. Ensure that only properly credentialed clients are allowed inside the venue, assist Gallery Ambassadors with noise control. You will also work with the catering staff to ensure each area is properly stocked and cleaned.

Committee Days: Thursday, October 5 – Sunday, October 8

Accompany each group of professionals during play, and display their scores. *Must be able to carry a standard sign (weight approximately 5-6 pounds) while walking 18 holes (approximately 4.5 miles). Training will take place at the golf course in the Volunteer Center Saturday and/or Sunday, September 30 and/or Monday, October 1.

Responsible for the operation of the Volunteer Center during tournament week. Duties include managing morning and afternoon meal service, assisting volunteers with questions, helping with volunteer check-in, etc. Opportunities to assist prior to tournament week with inventory, packaging, and distribution of all volunteer apparel and credentials.

Record statistics and scores for players on a handheld device as part of the PGA TOUR SHOTLink system. Must have knowledge of golf scorekeeping and statistics and be able to walk all 18 holes (approximately 4.5 miles). Online training required.

*All volunteers must attend a mandatory training session with PGA TOUR officials on Monday, October 2.
